Saving and version history
How Docsiv saves your work, and how to see, name and restore earlier versions.
Signed in, Docsiv saves as you work. The top bar of each app shows where things stand: Saved, Unsaved changes or Not saved yet.
How saving works
- Most apps save on their own a moment after you stop typing. Ctrl/⌘ + S saves straight away.
- Images and PDFs save when you select Save, so you decide when a change is final.
- Every app needs an account, and a free one is enough. Signed out, an app’s page asks you to sign up first.
- When several people edit at once, each person’s changes save, and every saved state is kept in version history.
Open version history
Open a file and choose Version history from More options (⋯) in the top bar, or from the file’s ⋯ menu in Drive. Select a version to see it.
- Restore this version makes it the current version. What you had before stays in the history.
- Compare with current shows what changed.
- Make a copy saves that version as a new file, and Download downloads it.
- Name this version keeps it for good, whatever your plan keeps. Turn on Named versions only to see just those.
How long versions are kept
| Plan | Kept for | Versions per file |
|---|---|---|
| Free | 7 days | 50 |
| Pro | 30 days | 200 |
| Team | 90 days | 500 |
Only members of the file’s workspace see its versions. People you share a file with can still open and edit it.
