When someone can’t open what you sent
Work through share links, published pages, form links and signing links step by step.
If someone can’t open your work, check how it was shared before changing the file.
A shared link
- Open Share and check General access. If it’s Restricted, add them under Add people by email, or switch to Anyone with the link.
- If you added them by email, ask them to sign in with exactly that address.
- If they need to edit or comment, they must be signed in; signed out, a link only lets them view.
- Check the file isn’t in Drive › Trash. Files in Trash only open for your workspace.
A published page
- Open Share › Publish and check the page is still published.
- If you stopped publishing and published again, the address changed. Copy the new one.
- If you moved to a new custom domain, check it shows Verified in Settings › Domains.
A form
If the link opens the form’s closed message, open the form’s Settings: turn Accepting responses back on, move the Close date, or raise the Response limit.
A signature request
- Open Signatures and find the envelope.
- Check its status and who it’s waiting for. With Sign in order, each signer gets their link only when the one before has signed.
- Select Remind, or New link to make a fresh link and copy it to them.
- If they can’t pass the email code, check the address on the envelope is right.
